Female Mortgage Advisers Who've Been There
Three female advisers. Hundreds of women helped. Zero jargon.
Whether you're buying your first home on a single income, starting fresh after a separation or just want an adviser who gets it... you're in the right place.
Claire, Amber and Rhianon are experienced female mortgage advisers. Between them, they've bought property on their own, supported clients through some of life's hardest chapters and won national recognition for the way they do it.
A lot of women tell us the same thing when they first get in touch: they wanted to talk to someone who would take them seriously. Someone who wouldn't assume they needed a partner to make it work. Someone who understood that money and property can get complicated - especially when life changes.
We're not just saying we get it. We've lived it.
Claire and Amber have both purchased property on their own. They know what it feels like to sit across from a bank feeling like the numbers aren't stacking up in your favour, and they know how to make a case that works.
We work with a lot of women in professional roles, business owners and women navigating property after separation.
Whatever your situation, there's no judgement here - just good advice.
Our Team
Meet Claire, Amber & Rhianon
Claire Williamson
Senior Adviser
Claire has been with My Mortgage since 2015. She's won the regional Adviser of the Year award in both 2024 and 2025, and has been a finalist in other years — recognition that reflects what her clients already know: she gets things done, and she does it with warmth.
She's also written a book for first home buyers, because she believes everyone deserves to understand what they're signing up for.
Claire lives on a beef farm near Cambridge. She's a trustee for the Rural Community Trust and leads initiatives focused on empowering women. She's bought property on her own — so when she talks about navigating the process solo, she means it.
Specialises in: First home buyers, rural and farming clients, women in business, complex situations.

Amber Helm
Adviser
Amber joined My Mortgage in 2018 and became an adviser in 2021 after two years in lending support. She's a qualified accountant, which means she's exceptionally good at the detail — the bits that make or break an application.
In 2026, Amber was a finalist for the regional Adviser of the Year award. She's also bought property on her own, and she specialises in clients whose income doesn't fit the standard bank template: self-employed people, contractors, and those with variable income who often get told "no" by a bank that doesn't really understand their finances.
Outside of work she's hiking, teaching group fitness, or planning her next adrenaline fix.
Specialises in: Self-employed and contracting clients, sole purchasers, income-complex situations.

Rhianon McQuoid
Adviser
Rhianon joined My Mortgage in 2024, bringing a strong background in property and a genuine passion for helping people reach their goals. She's based in the Bay of Plenty and works with clients across Tauranga and surrounding areas.
She's a mum of three, a beginner golfer, a runner, and someone who understands that getting into (or back into) the property market is about a lot more than spreadsheets.
Specialises in: Tauranga and Bay of Plenty clients, family home buyers, first steps back into property.

Women we work with a lot
Our service is completely free to you. We're paid by the lender, not by you.
Professional women
who want straight answers and someone who respects their time.
Women buying solo
on a single income, using KiwiSaver, figuring out what's actually possible.
Women navigating separation
property settlements, refinancing, buying an ex-partner out, or starting fresh.
First home buyers
who want someone in their corner, not just someone to process paperwork.
Self-employed business owners
whose income doesn't look tidy on paper.
Questions women often ask us
Can I get a mortgage on my own income?
Yes, often more easily than people expect. The deposit and your income-to-loan ratio matter more than whether you have a partner. We'll look at what's possible and be honest with you about the path.
I'm going through a separation. Where do I start?
This is one of the most common conversations we have. Whether you're buying out a partner, selling and buying something new, or just trying to understand your options - the first step is a no-obligation call with one of us. We've helped a lot of women through this.
I'm self-employed. Is it harder for me?
It can be, with the wrong adviser. Amber is a qualified accountant who specialises in exactly this. We know how to present your financials in a way that works for the banks.
What if the bank as already said no?
That happens more than it should. We work with multiple lenders, and a "no" from one doesn't mean no from all of them. Get in touch before you give up.
